Oh, Wow!! Deja Vu!!
So I'm cruising the other day doing my normal channel surfing with the radio. I refuse to have a cassette or CD player in my car because then you only listen to what you want to hear. Hey - I like listening to the best and worst out there. Otherwise, I'd be out of a job.

Anyway - I'm cruising and listening and I hit this country station and heard something that really upset me. One of the worst remakes I've ever heard - Sara Evans doing 'I Could Not Ask For More'. As far as I'm concerned Edwin McCain did one hell of a job with the song. Why mess with it?

After my stomach stopped doing flip-flops I changed channels and ended up on an oldies format. I'll be damned if I didn't hear another bad remake - Pat Boone and his rendition of 'Ain't That a Shame'. Not only did he ruin Fats Domino's song, he also charted higher than Fats. Ain't that a shame?

Hey - by the time I stopped wretching and came to my senses I immediately hit seek and got an AOR station. Of course I got sick again. Why? Sheryl Crow totally ruining 'Sweet Child o' Mine'.

I had to turn the radio off so I could think everything through. How many remakes are out there? And what's the best and worst? And can't these performers and entertainers be original? Speaking of which - in the following lists I'm excluding all songs that sample other songs. I'd have a list a mile long if I included all those songs in my best and worst remakes. So for arguments sake - the lists will include rock, pop, soul and country. Are you ready? Here they are in no particular order -

The Good
The Bad
The Ugly
Know one that should be on one of the lists? Let me know...
