In the Question Bag...
I just read 'Heard It In a Love Song' and you're probably right. Country music
does have more love songs than any other type of music. So, what, in your opinion,
is the ultimate country love song?
Without a doubt, it would have to be 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' by George Jones.
It's a song about a love that is neverending. Hard to believe that the song was recorded
in 1980. When you think of George Jone you think late 60's and early 70's. And I don't
think anyone else could have interpreted the song any better than George Jones. Runner
up to the ultimate country love song would have to be Randy Travis' 'Forever and Ever,
Amen'.
On virtually every subject, your views mirror mine EXACTLY. You think that it's
unfair to over-pay athletes. You think that Crossroads is a good movie. You think that
Jim Croce should be a Hall of Fame inductee (I took it for granted that HE WAS...stupid
me). You have a gift for articulating my general mindset regarding this world we live
in, something I am not so good at doing. Thanks, and keep it up!!
I'll try to keep doing what I'm doing. Eventually we may disagree. If we do, let me
know.
An e-mail that came in to the webmaster...Title: What's On Your Mind...Regarding
your choice of song quote...what's on yours? (The song quote in question is - The little
faggot with the earring and the makeup / Yeah, buddy, that's his own hair / The little
faggot's got his own jet airplane / The little faggot, he's a millionaire)
This e-mail was forwarded to me because I chose that particular song quote. It seems
that the classic rock stations are playing a politically correct version of 'Money For
Nothing'. This is for those of us who want the missing verse put back in.
Been to any good concerts lately?
Not yet...I do have tickets to go see John Michael Montgomery later this month. I'm
also planning on attending at least one of the Aerosmith / KISS double bills. And I'm
still waiting for the Blues Festivals that pop up all summer long between Kingston and
Syracuse.
What about Cat Stevens??????? Is he being black-balled for walking away from the
business or is it because of his religious beliefs and the supposed comment 10 years
ago regarding Salman Rushde? There was no one that had his impact from 73-77.
Maybe the selection committee will finally get their collective heads out the sand and
other places and realize that Jim Croce and Cat Stevens both deserve to be inducted into
the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Until then, keep writing the hall and keep bitching about
this injustice that they, and only they, can correct.
Are you serious? 'Saturday Night Fever' on a deserted island?
Too many complaints about the choices I made. Hey...Tough...I wanted to keep it within
10 CDs which meant a few choices were left behind. Those that were left behind included
'Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits', The Dixie Chicks album 'Fly' and David Bowie's 'Diamond
Dogs'.
Where have The Backstreet Boys and N'Sync been lately? Haven't heard much about
them in a while.
Who knows...And who cares...
