Cassandra's Poem
The tears burn my eyes as I watch you sleep
The drugs they've induced have taken you deep
Are dreams of Daddy dancing through your head?
Is Mommy singing as you lay in bed?

Won't you open your eyes and smile for us?
I promise you we won't make a big fuss
Give Mom and Dad that crooked little grin
Show that bastard that he's not gonna win

It hurts like hell to see you in this state
I'm only human and don't know your fate
You look so small in that hospital bed
If only I could take your place instead

Less than two years of your life has gone by
And now the doctor says that you may die
I want to take the IV's from your veins
Ease your suffering and release your pain

I wish you would wake my precious darling
So I can hold you until the morning
But I can't...the pain has taken its toll
Now the doctor has to play out his role
