A Mother's Prayer
(A poem I wrote for my son)
Lord please take care of the son I bore
Whom you've sent to fight this war
I have a need to say this out loud
On one hand I'm scared, on the other I'm proud
It hasn't been so long ago
That I watched my young child grow
From diapers, shots and schools first day
Yes, it doesn't seem so far away
Now he's grown and I can see
He's the greatest gift you've given me
So into your hands my son I give
Yet pray each day you'll let him live
Amen
